Remote Pharmaceutical Care
A new program developed by The Nebraska Medical Center will enhance health care in some of the area’s smallest hospitals.
The Remote Pharmaceutical Care program connects rural hospitals with experienced pharmacists who have chosen to leave the
workforce or are looking to work additional hours from home.
Pharmacy Robot and Bar Coding
The newest employee in the newly remodeled inpatient pharmacy at The Nebraska Medical Center is drawing a lot of attention. It s the
Swisslog PillPick system, an automated drug management unit, designed to package, store and dispense medications in bar coded, unit-dose
form. This new pharmacy robot ensures greater patient safety, reducing medication errors and increasing productivity giving pharmacists
more time to spend consulting with physicians and nurses about patient care and medication safety.
Pharmacy Residency Program
The Nebraska Medical Center has one of the most established pharmacy residency programs in the country. A pharmacy residency at the
med center offers individuals a variety of experiences and the freedom to explore many roles in the pharmacy practice. Specialized
residencies are also available in Oncology, Critical Care, Cardiology, Drug Information, and fellowships in Critical Care and Infectious
Disease.
