Motility Center

How the Motility Center Works

A physician or self-referred patient should contact the Motility Center patient coordinator. The coordinator records a brief history of the patient's symptoms and illness, and a comprehensive history and physical examiniation is scheduled at the patients convenience.

All necessary tests, procedures and consultations will be scheduled during the patient's visit, if possible. The results of the patient's procedures and evaluations will be sent to the referring physician detailing diagnosis and recommendations for management and/or follow-up care. Depending on the procedure, testing can last one to 24 hours.

Out-of-town patients can receive assistance finding overnight accomodations, including reservations at University House (located on campus). Procedures are covered by several insurance plans. HMO patients will need to obtain any needed referrals from their primary care physician prior to visiting the Motility Center.
